Here's his lovely intro:
There is no shortage of blogs, tumblrs or wordpress based websites out there in internet land where couples expose their sex lives for the world. A quick peek-a-boo around the tube sites and you will find thousands of videos with couples documenting their bedroom romps and willingly uploading them for the self-gratification of the hungry masses.
So why on this porno-filled planet is one married couple in their mid 20’s from Brooklyn, New York garnering so much attention from Camille Crimson, Cindy Gallop and many others? Their blog is blowing up, as is their Twitter and Tumblr, not to mention their videos on Xtube. Still, most people don’t even know who they are—they choose to stay anonymous and are only known as “Violet + Rye.”
From the very first glance at Violet + Rye, you can tell you’re not dealing with average amateur sexploits here. There is a much higher quality to the videos and photos than most. But is this performance theater? An oversexed couple living the XXX dream? What is it?Isn't that just the nicest fucking intro? Chris has been a longtime reader and Twitter pal, so it made for a comfortable discussion. Not to mention his pretty damn great and insightful questions:
There's no reason for these boob photos to be here, but you're not going to complain, are you? |
WHACK!: The internet is filled with amateur porn these days — and there is no shortage of corporate porn either. In your own words, what makes you guys stand out in the sea of internet sex? What makes you unique?
V+R: To be perfectly honest about it, we never really consider corporate porn. We don’t really watch it, never really have. We’ve never understood the need for a porn film to resemble a mainstream film, with plot and acting and all that shit. People watch porn for one reason, always have. Our uniqueness stems from being a couple that just enjoys sharing and producing sexy shit. There’s nothing fake about it, nothing staged or put on. There’s real orgasms, real pleasure, real emotions and real love. We get off on it, and came to it with no thoughts of it being anything other than a fun thing to do in our free time. People have responded incredibly positively to what we’ve put out there and we think it speaks to what the world of corporate porn is lacking. Studio porn has made a business of telling people what they want, and we think a lot of them no longer want it.
Additionally, one half of our team here is female, a demographic vastly underrepresented at the big studios. Violet also happens to be a female who enjoys watching porn and gets pretty aggravated when it does not appeal to her sensibilities. We know she’s not alone and want to give other women the same pleasure that she’s always seeking. Also, so far anyway, we haven’t shown a whole hell of a lot in our videos. In fact, our second most popular video is a shot of bed sheets that move as Violet works herself to orgasm with a vibrator. The brain is the biggest factor in sexuality, and corporate porn generally leaves that element out altogether. To read the rest, you'll have to go check out WHACK! Magazine. Go on... it's okay. You can come back later if you need to...
may not be a reason for the photos but they and especially the first one are stunning! read the interview yesterday and wish you both success with whatever the future brings you-although i hope it really doesn't change cause it's really freaking awesome the way it is!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, lsuk! And yeah, wherever this goes, it won't be changing much at all. We like what we do and we think it's unique, so we'l do it until we think otherwise!

I don't think we can heap enough congratulations onto you both!!! So very proud and happy!
ReplyDeleteYou guys! We absolutely would not be here without your inspiration and the honesty of the things you shared. Hope all is incredibly well!

I'm on work travel this week, in Seattle. I stopped by Left Bank Books on Pike's Place and picked up a $3 copy of Delta of Venus: Erotica by Anais Nin. What struck me most about this work was how much it brought my mind into the mix - my imagination - and that was hotter than any corporate porn out there. I truly believe in the art you are creating. You two do the same.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you haven't read this work yet, yeouch, it's gorgeous, got and scandalous :)
Ah, work travel. A time for solo adventures to coffee shops and frequent masturbation! We've never read any Anais, but have definitely been thinking we should. Maybe you just pushed us over the edge. And as for bringing the brain into the mix, we're SUPER happy to hear that. We think a lot about what we're putting out there, each edit of our videos, each tale or photo. So it's a pleasure to hear that it all comes through the way you intend. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, and happy solo adventures!
